Caryl
designed and created an early online accommodation inventory
and booking management system for her business, from which the
explosion of online booking services developed.
She was invited to join the Executive
of the State Training Board and Chaired a Course Advisory Committee
at RMIT. In 2001 Caryl moved into Vocational Training, allowing
her to blend her passion for both education and technology.
Awarded a Flexible Learning Leader
Scholarship in 2004, Caryl researched the then new phenomenon
of mobile learning - an area in which she has now become a recognised
leader.
She is a founding director of
the International Association for Mobile Learning. Fundamental
to this leadership is an understanding of current mobile devices
on which learning may be delivered, and an excellent grasp on
new and emerging technology that impacts on learners of all ages.
Caryl has represented Australia
as a world-class fencer, and has recently returned to the sport
she loves. In 2008 she represented
Australia at the Veteran World Championships.
